Wolf Territories

Drive, play, fly and sail

Four systems built into WolfViewer and WolfStorm for Wolf Territories: a car, truck and bike dashboard, Wolf Roleplay with Game Mode, Flight Mode and Sailing Mode. Each has a panel across the bottom of the screen, a guide, and functions for scripters.

Wolf Territories only. This needs WolfViewer or WolfStorm on a Wolf Territories region. On other grids the menu items, buttons and panels are not shown at all.

Other viewers carry on as before: vehicles, aircraft and boats are driven with the normal keys, and the game screens are not shown.

Driving: the car, truck and bike dashboard

A red Rolls-Royce coupe on the Sandbox beach with the car dashboard across the bottom of the screen: steering wheel, speedometer, rev counter, information dial, manual gear lever, brake and accelerator pedals, and the lamp buttons.

A full dashboard when you sit in a vehicle: speedometer, rev counter, gears you change yourself, lamps, indicators and a horn, in three designs after real vehicles (a Porsche 911 for the car, a Scania R for the truck, a superbike for the bike). Drive with the mouse, the keys, a steering wheel and pedals, or a gamepad.

How to start

  • Sit in a vehicle: it opens by itself.
  • Or World > Car Dashboard, or the car icon at the bottom right.
  • Page Up / Page Down change gear.

For scripters

wolfDriveInput reads the exact wheel and pedals; wolfDashboard puts your vehicle’s revs, gear, fuel and warnings on the driver’s dashboard.

Wolf Roleplay and Game Mode

Game Mode on the Sandbox beach: the Roleplay window open on its Combat tab with weapon and armour slots, and the game bar across the bottom with health, stamina and hunger orbs, twelve action slots, weapon slots, page buttons, bag slots and 100 Bones.

A roleplay game drawn by your viewer, with no HUD to wear: stats such as health, stamina and hunger, a wallet, a bag, pets, weapons, an action bar and a target frame. The grid’s own wolves game runs everywhere that has no game of its own, and anyone can make their own.

How to start

  • World > Game Mode, or the paw icon at the bottom right. It is off until you switch it on.
  • World > Roleplay, or the bar’s page buttons, open the Roleplay window.
  • Keys 1-9, 0, -, = press the action bar.

For creators

The wolfGame functions make a game (stats, money, items, pets, combat) or drive an existing system’s screens.

Flight Mode

Flight Mode on the Sandbox beach: a green head-up display over the view and the flight deck across the bottom, with the autopilot panel, clock, gear lever, sidestick, primary flight display, navigation display, crew alerts and the flight computer.

An airliner-style flight deck with an autopilot: type a region and position and it flies your plane or helicopter there, through your aircraft’s own keys. In WolfViewer it also takes off and lands at airports by itself.

How to start

  • World > Flight Mode; the plane icon at the bottom right shows or hides the deck.
  • Type REGION/X/Y/Z on the flight computer, press Enter, then CMD.

For aircraft makers

Keep flying from the keys. The gear lever and engine button say the pilot’s chat commands (“g” and “start” to begin with).

Sailing Mode

A picture of Sailing Mode at the helm will go here.

A yacht’s helm station: wind, depth, boat speed and a chartplotter, with an autopilot that sails to a place round the land, beats upwind and tacks on the laylines.

How to start

  • World > Sailing Mode; the boat icon at the bottom right shows or hides it.
  • Type REGION/X/Y on the CDU, press Enter, then TRACK and AUTO.

For boat makers

Keep steering from the keys. The SAIL button says “raise” to begin with; sailors can set your boat’s own word.
