Companions: characters who walk with the players
Where this works
- Works todayWolfStorm: Characters who walk with the players in a box’s panel.
- In WolfViewer now (Speedy Xenon)WolfViewer: Someone walks with them... under a box’s More....
- On across Wolf Territories (each region at its next restart)Companions walking with players in the world.
A companion is one of your characters who joins the players and walks with them: a guide, a deputy, a dog, a ghost who knows the way. They follow, talk on the way and leave when the story says.
Add a companion
The easy way: click the box where they join and tell the helper: “Old Jed walks with them from the cabin to the falls.” By hand:
- Step 1: Click the box where they join on Your story map and press More....
- Step 2: Press Someone walks with them... (WolfViewer) or use Characters who walk with the players (WolfStorm).
- Step 3: Choose who.
- Step 4: Choose whether they walk with each player who is there, or with the whole party (they follow its leader).
- Step 5: Choose until which box they stay, or to the end of the story.
- At most two companions can walk with a party at once. A third is refused, and the player is told.
- In a fight, companions fight on the players’ side and take their own turns.
- Use Leaves them here (WolfStorm) on a later box to send a companion away there.
- Your own scripts can bring a companion or send one away too, and hear when one joins or leaves. See Adding your own scripts.
