Publish it
Where this works
- Works todayPublishing, asking for regions, approving requests for your regions and giving roles, in WolfStorm’s Studio.
- In WolfViewer now (Speedy Xenon)The same in WolfViewer.
- On across Wolf Territories (each region at its next restart)Once published, the game runs on regions that have the next update.
Press Publish at the foot of Your story map (it is also under Advanced editing as the Publish page; once the game is live the button says Update the live game). Work down the page from the top.
1. Checks
The Studio checks the whole game. Things marked Must fix stop you publishing; things worth a look don’t. Each problem says in plain words what is wrong and where, with a Fix button that takes you straight to it.
A box that leads nowhere yet, or whose way on still says Still to decide, also stops publishing: click it on Your story map and press Leads to..., or tell the helper what happens next.
2. Regions
- Step 1: Under Regions, press Request next to each region the story uses. (The region you built it on was asked for when you pressed Build my game.)
- Step 2: If you hold the region, the game is switched on there at once.
- Step 3: If not, the region holder sees your request in their Studio and approves or refuses it.
For region holders
Requests for your regions are under Advanced editing: the Requests page in WolfStorm, and Requests for my regions on the Adventures page in WolfViewer. Each shows who made it, its rating and how many characters it wants at once. Before you approve, choose whether it May change the sky and weather, and how many characters at once (0 to 40) it may have.
A request is refused if the game’s rating is higher than the region’s maturity rating.
3. Roles
Under Roles (WolfViewer: Game masters and teachers), choose a resident and give them the Game master or Teacher role, until you revoke it or for 1, 7 or 30 days. Game masters can run the story live; teachers run class sessions.
4. Publish
- Step 1: Press Publish.... It asks Publish revision N? (each publish is a new numbered version).
- Step 2: Press Publish. Players who are part-way through move to the new version at their next box.
Once it is live, changing it while people play has its own preview and undo: see Change the story while people play.
- History lists every version. Republish brings an older one back as a new version.
- Unpublish... closes every session and its characters leave. Your work is kept.
- Download the draft (.json) saves a copy of your game as a file. See Import and export.
5. Tell people
Listing a game in Wolf Experiences straight from the Studio is Planned for later. Until then, add your starting spot as an ordinary Wolf Experience: Wolf World then Wolf Experiences..., then Add your experience. How to build a great Wolf Experience explains it. For a one-off night, add it to What’s on.
